WINfo ends by
2:00 pm

The WINfo session may end earlier depending on the number of questions participants have about WIN.

We know that even for experienced networkers, networking functions can be intimidating--even scary. WIN member Ambassadors are at each event and are happy to help introduce you to other participants and answer any questions you may have. We will make sure you feel welcome and find your way through the process. To start, begin understanding the principles of effective networking.

IN ORDER TO GET GOOD RESULTS, KEEP THESE TIPS IN MIND:

  • Be prompt. Better yet, come up to a half hour prior the event start to settle in and informally network.
  • Dress appropriately (business attire).
  • Have your personal 60-second introduction ready. Be prepared to tell others what make makes your business unique, communicate your ideal customer, and ask for what you need.
  • Ask questions. It is far more important in business to be interested rather than interesting. Plus, asking the other person to talk can put you both at ease.
  • Do not sell or recruit. Networking is about building relationships. The people you meet may not necessarily be in the market for your product or service. Most likely, those people are three or four people removed from the person you meet.
  • Use each event as a professional development opportunity. Learn new ways to succeed from the presenter and the women you meet.
  • Follow up. Keep in touch with your new network. Social Media (e.g. LinkedIn) is a useful tool for staying connected. Check in with individuals in your network regularly to offer support, resources and leads.
