Feng Shui expert Kim Julen explains how you can enhance your surroundings and set an intention to build your fame and reputation. Then, back it up with her real-world, take-action tips!
Your Fame and Reputation is a key component to creating a successful business. You might be thinking you don’t have any control over this, that it’s an outside job. When, truthfully, there are many things that you can do to build your Fame and Reputation and become known as an expert in your field.
In Feng Shui, the Fame area of your Bagua is located in the back center of your home or office. It affects your career as it is located directly opposite to that area.*
THE FAME AND REPUTATION AREA OF YOUR BAGUA AND LIFE RELATES TO:
- What people say about you
- How people perceive you
- How you are known in the world
- Maintaining your good name
- Legal Issues
*Note: For more information on what a bagua is and how to apply it to your home see my blog: Your Space Reflects Your Life – What Is Yours Saying?
I worked with a company that was thriving yet struggled with poor Yelp reviews (and some of them were from people who weren’t even their customers). When I looked at their office space I realized they were missing a piece of their Fame area. Once we placed an adjustment to energetically fill in this missing piece, the review issue calmed down.
One way to give your Reputation a boost is to add the Fame element of fire to that area of your home or office (or even your desk). The fire element is represented by the color red, triangular or pointed shapes and symbols of fire (such as candles or fireplaces). You can also write your intentions for how you want to be known in the world on a piece of red paper and place it in the Fame area of your home, office or desk.
Fire also represents passion and action so in order to build your fame and reputation you also need to take action. Wondering what you can do to build your Fame and Reputation as an expert in your field?
MY TOP 6 TIPS TO BUILD YOUR FAME AND REPUTATION AS AN EXPERT IN YOUR FIELD
CALL YOURSELF AN EXPERT
Because you are one! No matter what your business or your field, you know more than the majority of people do about your topic.
In the field of Feng Shui, many people have read a number of books or articles about Feng Shui yet few have taken 99+ hours of training to become certified as I have. Further, my extensive experience working with clients in their homes and offices lends a broader perspective and an advantage that simply reading a book does not.
OFFER A FREE GIFT
We all have questions that we get asked over and over. Create a free report or article, checklist or workbook that addresses those common questions. This is a great thing to use as an Opt-in on your website, too. The most common questions I get are about how to get more money flowing in. So, I created my 9 Fast Feng Shui Fixes to Attract Abundance. The cool thing is I have had people experience more abundance simply from taking the actions I recommended in my Free Gift. Here’s one example from a friend who downloaded my Free Gift:
“I’ve been experiencing positive shifts in my life as a result of the Feng Shui suggestions in your Free gift. First, I sold a car I had been trying to sell for years for a great price. Next, I received a bonus at work along with an unexpected 5% raise and an opportunity to become a supervisor which will bring additional income.” Rebecca Elder – Monrovia, CA
WRITE ARTICLES OR BLOGS
When you share your expertise via an article or a blog, you are letting the world know you have something important and helpful to say. Further, when your potential client reads your blog, they see you in a new light, as someone who can help them. I like to give my readers actions to take – simple things they can do to shift the energy in their space using Feng Shui principles. Often, people will come up to me at an event and share that they really appreciate and value the advice I share in my articles.
When your potential client reads your blog, they see you in a new light, as someone who can help them.
The key here is sharing those blogs/articles:
- On social media sites, such as Facebook, Linked In, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram
- In your newsletter
- In groups on Facebook and Linked In
- With potential clients who have an issue you address in your blog
- On your website
- In association newsletters (networking groups, Chambers, local papers)
When you speak about your topic sharing your expertise, similar to writing an article or a blog, you build your fame and reputation as an expert in that arena.
So where can you speak?
- You can speak to groups (networking groups, book clubs, associations, chambers, rotary, or anywhere your ideal clients gather)
- Home Parties are great if you have an experiential type of product or service. For example, I offer Angel Reading Home Parties. This gives me an opportunity to speak to the group of ladies gathered and then for them to experience my psychic readings.
- Be a guest host on a blab, podcast, google hangout, etc. There are many people looking for guest hosts for their regular shows and this can be a wonderful way to connect with a new audience and become known as an expert in a new arena.
BECOME INVOLVED IN ONLINE COMMUNITIES OR CREATE YOUR OWN.
There are many groups that contain your “ideal clients” on Facebook and Linked In. You are probably already a member of many of these because they piqued your interest. You can also seek out groups that contain other professionals in your field. We have an International Feng Shui Guild group that I regularly interact with on Facebook, as an example.
So what do you do to showcase your expertise?
- Comment on posts with your ideas and suggestions
- Put links to your articles or blogs, if allowed, or on freebie days
- Offer to be a guest host for a week where you offer free advice and suggestions related to your area of expertise. I have done this in a number of groups with both Feng Shui and Angel Reading guidance
- Start your own community group where you’re sure to showcase your expertise with posts and helpful advice and tips
STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE!
The only way to improve and build your fame and reputation is by putting yourself out into the world to be seen and heard. The more you do this, the more comfortable you will become.

Your Homework Assignment:
1. Look at your workspace.
What bugs you? Feng Shui teaches us that our environment reflects our thoughts and intentions, and vice-versa. Is there clutter you’ve been meaning to tackle, old papers, negative or distracting imagery? Make time to do a little physical organizing as you set the intention to declutter your mind as well. If you really want to dive in, check out Kim’s free resource, 9 Fast Feng Shui Tips to Attract Abundance, and see where you can apply them in your own home and office.
2. Choose one action step you can take to build your reputation now, based on this article.
An example might be, updating your LinkedIn Profile and joining some groups related to your field of expertise. Or you could research speaking opportunities, find places to submit articles, or create a free gift you could offer your clients via your website.
