The last time we brought Kim Duke, The Sales Divas in to speak, she made a big impact on the WIN audience – including me! Here are a few “take-aways” that resonated with me then, which have become a part of my sales strategy moving forward.
1. Be (even more) uniquely you. The first step in getting a customer to buy is to pique their interest, and nothing is more interesting than someone being their genuine self! You’ll draw in more customers you truly love working with, who see the value in what you have to offer. And your work will be even more fulfilling when you know you’re bringing your best self to the table, every day.
2. Don’t stagnate. If things are going well, it’s tempting to rest on your laurels and carry on with business as usual. But, as the pilot of your business, you need to constantly be looking ahead, re-calibrating, and changing course in response to obstacles and potential challenges that lie ahead. Not only does this keep your business running smoothly and set you up for greater success in the future, it ensures that you don’t get bored. Like water, you and your business need to keep flowing, adding freshness to what you do.
3. Constantly look at challenges from different and unexpected angles. Don’t be tempted to dismiss an idea as being too different, too off-the-wall, or too big – pick it apart, break it down, find ways to make it doable – or simply let it inspire you. For more inspiration, you can also look to other industries for ideas, rather than constantly focusing on how your competitors are doing things. Don’t put yourself or your business in a box – look for ideas everywhere!
Kim’s success is proof that uniqueness and creativity can take you so much farther than conforming to a certain standard. When you bring your own voice to your marketing, sales, and every other aspect of your business, you’ll be more fulfilled, and your business will flourish.
